Availability of individual counselling

Jo Cotterill mostly provides group support counselling to new clients now. She only provides a limited number of individual counselling sessions.

She only offers individual counselling sessions on Monday. 

Jo Cotterill can assist you in finding individual counsellors that are suited to you online if need/ want ongoing support.    

She will focus on finding counsellors who are experienced, available and affordable and suit your particular needs.

Individual Counselling Fees:

Jo charges $289 for a one-hour individual counselling session as per the recommended rates from the Australian Association of Social Work 2025.

Joanne charges this rate and expects payment at the time of appointment.
*If you have a Mental Health Plan under Medicare or are with certain Private Health Providers you may be able to claim some of this money back.

No-Cost Counselling options:

To make sure that everyone in the community can access counselling regardless of their income Jo provides a set number of counselling sessions each week for free* to the clients under the following funding programs.

• NDIS (4 sessions per month max)

• Victims Services (NSW & QLD) (4 sessions per month max)

• BUPA (Open Arms)  (4 sessions per month max)

Waitlisting of Previous and New Clients

Priority for No-Cost Counselling options will be given to existing or previous clients and those wanting EMDR as a treatment modality.

There is currently no waitlist for:

• Full fee paying clinets

For existing clients who still want to see me

There is currently only a short waitlist for:

• Previous NDIS clients and BUPA (Open Arms) clients

There is a long wait list for:

• Victims of Crime Clients 

I will no longer be seeing clients under bulk-bill Medicare, EAP, DVA or Open Arms.

• Clients who used to see me under SIRA funding will need to discuss with me if they want to return. 

Jo may, however, be able to direct you to counsellors who are still taking clients under these programs via telehealth.   Please email counselling@chooseyourfuture.me for more inforamtion.

Other things to note

Cancellations:

Any cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will also result in a fee. 

Additional Costs:

Additional costs may be charged if you request Jo to travel to see you, attend court with you or write a report for you.
